Usually caused by a typo or leading/trailing space. Copy the key directly from your email rather than typing it manually.

How to fix it

1Copy the full key from your order email (Ctrl+C / Cmd+C)
2Paste it directly into the setup.office.com field
3Ensure no extra spaces before or after the key
4Try a different browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
5Contact support if the problem persists

All Keynero keys are global and work in all regions. This error is almost always caused by an active VPN changing your apparent location.

How to fix it

1Disable your VPN or proxy connection
2Retry entering the key at setup.office.com
3If still failing, try on a different network

Installation failures are most often caused by insufficient disk space, a conflicting old Office install, or antivirus interference.

How to fix it

1Ensure at least 4 GB of free disk space is available
2Temporarily disable your antivirus during installation
3Uninstall any existing Office versions first (see next issue)
4Re-download the installer from setup.office.com
5Run the installer as Administrator (right-click → Run as administrator)

You must fully uninstall previous Office versions before installing a new one. Microsoft provides an official removal tool for this.

How to fix it

1Download the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) from support.microsoft.com
2Run SaRA and select "Uninstall Office"
3Follow the on-screen steps to remove all Office versions
4Restart your computer
5Reinstall from setup.office.com

This generic error is usually resolved by clearing the Office installation cache and running a clean install.

How to fix it

1Open Control Panel → Programs → Uninstall a program
2Find Microsoft Office and click Uninstall
3Restart your computer
4Download and run the SaRA tool to ensure a clean removal
5Reinstall fresh from setup.office.com

If you've forgotten your password or are locked out, Microsoft's account recovery tool can help.

How to fix it

1Go to account.microsoft.com and click "Forgot password"
2Follow the recovery steps via phone or backup email
3If you don't have a Microsoft account, create one free at account.microsoft.com

Retail Microsoft Office licenses require a personal Microsoft account. Work/school accounts managed by an employer or institution cannot be used.

How to fix it

1Sign out of your current work or school account
2Create or use a personal Microsoft account (e.g. yourname@outlook.com)
3Sign in with the personal account and enter your product key

Office is not fully activated yet. This happens when you haven't signed in with the correct Microsoft account.

How to fix it

1Open any Office app (e.g. Word)
2Click "Sign In" in the top-right corner
3Sign in with the same personal Microsoft account used to redeem your key
4Office activates automatically once signed in

Not all apps are included in every edition. Check which apps came with your license.

How to fix it

1Home & Student: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote
2Home & Business: adds Outlook + commercial use rights
3Professional Plus: adds Access, Publisher, Skype for Business
4Contact support if an app included in your edition is missing

App crashes are often caused by corrupted installation files or conflicting add-ins.

How to fix it

1Hold Ctrl while launching the app to open in Safe Mode
2If it works in Safe Mode: go to File → Options → Add-ins and disable all COM add-ins
3Run Office repair: Control Panel → Programs → Microsoft Office → Change → Quick Repair
4If Quick Repair fails, try Online Repair
5As a last resort, uninstall and reinstall from setup.office.com
